“...You requested it, so we rewind... !”
Joseph Cotton is one of the most prolific artists from Jamaica’s 70s roots scene to still be touring today. Teaming up with Tinystar, his live shows are some of the most energetic and entertaining that you’ll ever see from a reggae deejay.
Hailing from Jamaica’s northern coast he made a name for himself as Jah Walton, deejaying on sound systems across Kingston, and spent the rest of his time recording songs in the biggest studios of the day before moving to Europe.
His smash hit No Touch The Style even earnt him an appearance on prime time television in England. To this day he continues to record over old and modern riddims in his own unique style, inspired the generation of deejays who came just before him such as U Roy and Dennis Alcapone.
… And his performances with Tinystar come with a bonus: Joseph Cotton loves sharing his first-hand accounts of the ‘good ol’ days’ in the now historic Kingston scene, when singers and musicians created the legendary reggae sound.
So come and live both a concert and a musical history class about Jamaican music by someone who was part of reggae’s making! Get in touch here.
